The Department of General Studies at the IEM-UEM Group is dedicated to enhancing students’ competencies for competitive examinations and professional success. With its inception in 2017, it offers the General Studies Course (GS), comprising Essential Studies for Professionals (ESP) and Skill Development for Professionals (SDP) modules by teaching essential subjects like Geography, Economics, Polity, and History, along with Skill Development for Professionals (SDP) modules covering subjects like English, Quantitative Aptitude, and Logical Reasoning. 

This department is designed to prepare students for competitive exams (UPSC, CAT, SSC, etc.) and placement tests, ensuring they possess strong general awareness, analytical skills, and communication abilities. The curriculum blends conceptual knowledge with practical problem-solving techniques, making students industry ready.
